American Dad! and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is letting out his inner space geek for his latest project.

The TV producer is behind Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, a 13-part series hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson, following the 1980 TV series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage.

“It’s an update of the Carl Sagan series from 1980, which has been seen by 700 million people worldwide,” Seth explains.

Although it may seem surprising that Seth is into such a serious topic, he tells us, “I’ve always been sort of a science geek. I’ve always been very curious about things and the nature of the universe.”

However, if you’re not a self-declared science geek like Seth, he assures us Cosmos isn’t just for the lab guys. “It’s designed for people who have absolutely no prior interest in science … It’s designed to be entertaining first and foremost … [and] to be accessible and mind blowing to those who may not have had any prior interest in science at all.”

Tune in to Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey on FOX Sundays at 9/8c and National Geographic Mondays at 10/9c.
